SuraLink Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026

SuraLink helps you understand and practice Quranic words and passages. The app does not require a SuraLink account and does not include advertising networks.

Your learning stays on your device

Learning progress, vocabulary, review schedules, bookmarks, activity, preferences and memorization records are stored locally. SuraLink does not provide cloud sync or an account-recovery service. Removing the app may remove this data. The learning-backup feature lets you create a copy and restore it yourself. A downloaded or copied backup is under your control; keep it somewhere you trust.

Microphone and speech recognition

Recitation practice requests microphone and speech-recognition access when you choose to use voice input. Speech is processed by the device or Apple's speech services, depending on device support and configuration. SuraLink compares recognized text with the passage locally and does not operate a server that stores your recordings. You can use typed recall instead.

Location and prayer times

With your permission, your location is used to calculate Qibla direction and retrieve prayer times from Aladhan (api.aladhan.com). Coordinates are sent to Aladhan for the prayer-time lookup. Precise GPS coordinates are not saved in your learning state. If you choose a city instead, the city's approximate coordinates are used; its name and your calculation-method preference are saved locally.

Subscriptions

Apple handles purchases and payment information. RevenueCat verifies subscription status, grants access to paid features and provides purchase analytics. RevenueCat may process app-user identifiers, purchase information and technical data for that purpose. See RevenueCat's privacy policy. Learning backups do not grant or restore subscriptions; purchases are restored separately through the App Store.

Audio and external services

When you listen, the app requests audio from providers such as EveryAyah, QuranWBW, Hisn al-Muslim and the configured audio CDN. These requests expose network information, such as your IP address, to those providers. External links open their respective services, which have their own privacy practices. Interface and Arabic fonts are bundled with the app and do not require a Google Fonts request.

Keeping and removing data

Local learning remains on your device until you replace or remove the app data. Removing the app may remove local progress; delete any backup files or copied backup text separately. App Store purchase records are managed by Apple and are separate from local learning. External providers apply their own retention practices. Contact the support address below with questions or requests about data processed through SuraLink.

Content and changes

Chapter names and verse counts are based on Quran.com metadata. Word meanings are adapted from the Quranic Arabic Corpus. Guided explanations and situation labels are distinct from the Quran text. Changes to this policy will be posted on this page.
